Today, I (Olivia) am so excited to share one of my own weddings. This stunning wedding was one of my favorites of the year, and I could not be more thrilled to share it with A City Wedding. I am so happy to share it here, as I wanted to ensure this wedding wasn’t reduced to merely the details, given that the story and emotion were so key to this day.

With that said, their day did have wonderful style, perfecting walking the line between traditional and modern, with a ceremony at historic Holy Name and reception at Terzo Piano at the Art Institute. As Erica said, “It was important to have a traditional church wedding ceremony for both us as well as our families. The wedding was our way of honoring our parents as well as trying to incorporate those beliefs that we felt would be important in our marriage, not just our wedding.

“However, the reception after the ceremony was all about the two of us. We completely turned the feeling of the day around as we celebrated our wedding in a clean and modern space. Of every venue we looked at for our reception, the Terzo Piano was the only space that could make our event uniquely our own; it contained absolutely no remnants, reminders, or similarities to its prior celebrations nor did it remind me of any other reception I had been to.”

Erica had told me that she would be emotional on the wedding day, and indeed, she was. The time right before walking down the aisle and the actual walk down were particularly intense and beautiful. She actually became so overcome with emotion that she and her dad stopped about halfway down the aisle for him to dry her tears, one of my favourite moments at any wedding! From Erica: “The walk down the aisle was very emotional for me. Throughout the year of our engagement, the one aspect of our wedding that was a mystery to me was how I would feel walking down the aisle. Everything else for the day was meticulously planned and scheduled and I pretty much knew exactly what to expect. On the other hand, the feeling of walking down the aisle was so uniquely amazing and unlike any other moment of the day.”
